Take a look at one of the most beautiful towns in Maine. Its beauty is drawn from the fact that this town has not been commercialized despite being located just off Route One. The shops in Belfast, Maine contain the wares of local artisans as well as items manufactured in America. You can also spend your time visiting one of the many art galleries. There are several places and activities to keep you busy while you visit Belfast. They have a city park that is perfect for a picnic lunch, tennis, swimming, beach combing as well as having a playground area for the kids. They are known for their beautiful walking bridge and newly built, state of the art dog park. On a rainy day, you can take in a movie at the Colonial Theatre and on better days go boating or find sea glass in the harbor at low tide.
Here are a few photographs I took during my visit to Belfast, Maine...
We ended our time in Belfast by attending a "Street Party." There was music, dancing, rock wall climbing, bounce houses for the kids, bungee jumping and free popcorn in front of the theatre.
It very much had a neighborhood feel to it as I heard people chatting about their families, dancing to the live music and enjoying each others company.
I highly recommend you visit this beautiful town that prides itself in staying true to its roots by honoring the craftsmanship, artisans and people who live there.
What is one of your favorite places to visit?

Great pictures of a Neat place!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susanne for stopping by my blog and taking a look. Although I have been to that area often in the past, it is only recently that I really spent some time looking into the "nooks and crannies" of the place, as well as talking to art gallery and shop owners. I really fell in love with it this time!
ReplyDeleteWow, these pictures make me want to step out of my office and into them. What an enchanting, charming little town!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The 6th photo is the best! It has such an old homey feel to it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little town. It looks quiet and peaceful... a taste of Americana before it all went to hell in a hand basket! I'd love to visit! I have so many favorite places it's hard to pin down. Paris, Beirut, Monterey, San Francisco!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Maine. I love old towns like that. It looks like the town my grandmother lives in in Texas, but maybe a little bigger.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from VoiceBoks!

ReplyDeleteNew England has a strong "made in the USA" spirit!

That's great to hear Douglas. We live in Massachusetts and I am grateful to have the ability to visit Boston and the places where our countries history began.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alicia, I really love how they stay true to the people who live there.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura.. you would love Maine. I hope you get the opportunity some day, it really is a beautiful state. You have the coast, the mountains and some farm land.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline I would love to visit San Francisco someday too. As well as parts of Europe. Thanks for sharing my post too!
ReplyDeleteRoxi, that is one of my favorites too!
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon, thanks for stopping by... it really was charming, I think that is why I wanted to share a post on it. The people I spoke with were very pleasant and it was nice to see how the town "celebrates" the people who live there by making the shops prominent with their wares and hosting Street Parties for everyone to visit one another.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love street parties! People can just let loose. I wish I could go to Belfast someday...
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome place! I love the pictures, too (especially the one of the cats). Someday I will finally visit Maine!
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing Christina is those cats are painted on that door. They used the door for a space to create an illusion that it was open. I hope you get to visit too... if you need to stop on your trip let me know, I call Massachusetts home and would be happy to see you!
ReplyDeleteIt was a real nice event. I almost felt like a stranger in someone else's house. Lots of neighborhood/Belfast residents. I loved watching them interact, laugh and have a great time.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I had no idea, the picture looks so realistic!
ReplyDeleteAs a Stephen King fan since I was old enough to read, I've wanted to go to Maine. Plus, in pictures, it is always so beautiful there! Someday when all these kids move out, I can afford vacations again haha.
I have never been to Maine, it looks and sounds absolutely lovely! I can't even begin to imagine how excited I would be to visit that made in USA store! I would probably have to hug the owners!! One really cool place is the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, which is now an open artist studio/gallery.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to go to Maine. One day... It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the chance... it is a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteSarah, you would love this place. Very artsy and true to the people who call it home. The proprietor of Conklin's Maine Mercantile, Gary, was super nice. He was very knowledgable of all the items in his shop and explained how he renovated the place from top to bottom. They are open year round too! If I ever get out your way, I'll be sure to let you know so we can meet for lunch!
