On the afternoon of June 29, my sister Melissa, her daughters Emily and Rachel and my daughter Kate went on an adventure walk on my parents property. Halfway through our travel I thought how much fun we were having and how much fun it would be to create my first podcast. Although initially I did not think this would be a 'learning' podcast, there is some interesting information my sister provided for hikers along our trek.

The Podcast didn't process the pictures the way I thought they would, so I included some pics below for you to enjoy looking at while you listen!
Melissa with her camera... ready to shoot!
Kate and Emily on an old farm tractor.
Rachel
My Dad logs and puts the unused limbs on
trails to prevent erosion on the hilly parts.
The trail begins to get over grown and wet.
A tree down... climb over!
Two paths... which one shall we take?
The girls wanted to go this way, but we went
Melissa's way instead.
Jewel Weed
Rachel runs to catch up with me. Her Mom
was still looking at Jewel Weed.
Victoria... this was absolutely beautiful. Reminded me of how much I missed living away from the desert. Thank you for sharing! The podcast was great! Still chuckling. ;) Peace, grace and blessings.
lovely! walks are my thing. my 4 year old twins are in speech therapy (long story) anyway i get these awesome home visits where we work on sounds and they are "pushing" me to send them to preschool so they "won't be behind." i get it, i worked in that system before and no, they don't know all their letters and numbers or how to draw much of anything beyond scribbles. but from all of our walks they can tell the names of about 20 different flowers, know a honey bee from a bumble bee, can identify an oak leaf and know all sorts of people from around our neighborhood. so i just keep telling them we are just going to go on walks until kindergarden ; )
ROsey... I'm not sure why it processed like that. (I wish I knew) I thought the pictures would help instead. We are lucky to go on this trip often, as it was my parents backyard!
My boys sound much like yours in those years. They did attend PreK., but I'm not sure they were better for it. Sounds like they are blessed to have a wonderful mom like yourself, teaching them first hand about the world around them. So good you can spend this quality time with them... before they HAVE to go to school full days.
Thank you Carla... it was so funny at the time. Plus listening to our teenage girls. We love to tease them. It's funny how they can't imagine us their age once. We are going back this week... so more fun to come. (By the way, I love how you closed your comment... "peace, grace and blessings.") Thank you very much for that!
Thanks Pepper Tan.. I will be going back this week. I have another sister also going this time... flying in from Washington State. So it should be even more laughs. I'm hoping to capture some of our 'moments" together.
I really enjoy your blog, and I nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award. :) http://the-edge-of-the-sky.blogspot.com/2012/06/liebster-blog-award.html

ReplyDeleteI can see the pictures (which are great) but the podcast was sound only for me (the screen alternating colors of neon fuzz). Not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the post though. Your trip looks like it was fun.
